Kerry Hills met a mixed trade at Carlisle on Saturday.  Topping the sale were Robert and Jean Price who had made the long trip from Mid Wales. They sold the second placed ram lamb for £1100.  By a Reidstown ram out of a home bred ewe the lamb joins the Woodhouse Flock of J & P Owens.  The Prices’ also sold the pre-sale show champion, a yearling ram for £1000 to Ellen Riddoch, Moray.

The first prize ram lamb, which was also overall reserve champion, came from the Penrith based Grassknop flock of Sean Mitchell. Selling for £500 the lamb headed north to join the Purclewan flock of Melissa Donald, Dalyrymple.  Jim Rowe, Leominster sold his ram lamb for £480 to Pauline Hambleton for her Clayfield Flock.

Best Opposite sex to the champion – Gwilym Pugh’s Yearling ewe

Topping the yearling ewes was a ewe from local vendor John Wigham which realised £400. Next best was a ewe from G Pugh, Welshpool which was awarded the trophy for the best sheep of opposite sex to the champion, which made £350 and then the best of the pen from Derek & Cindy Steen which made £340.

A John, Carmarthen topped the ewe lamb trade selling the first prize ewe lamb for £360. By a Tysoe tup out of a homebred ewe the lamb joined the Three Farms Flock of Ailsa Forsyth, Newcastle on Tyne.
