A total of 204 sheep were forward for the Annual Sale at Ludlow, with a clearance of around 90%. There were several new buyers in evidence from both north and south of the country.
Topping the sale was a two shear ram from the Calcot Flock of Tom Evans, by the multi show wining Woodhouse 2 ram out of a home bred ewe. The ram went to Scotland to join the Overbuttergask Flock of R S Morris achieving a price of 2300gns. Top priced ram lamb came from the Woodhouse 2 Flock of J and P Owens selling for 1500gns to join the Fronarth Flock of S Jones, who in turn sold the top priced ewe lamb for 520gns to C Adamson, to join the flock at Brymore Academy, Somerset.
Champion in the pre sale show was a shearling ewe from the Woodhouse 2 Flock of J and P Owens, by a homebred ram out of a homebred ewe, she sold for 1650gns to join the Cardington Flock of show judge Dean Whybrow.
Reserve Champion was a shearling ram from the Leinthall flock of A Probert, by a Pengwern tup out of a Dorddu ewe, the ram sold for 1900gns, joining the Trecelyn Flock of the Morgan Family.
