The Royal Welsh Show remains a pinnacle event in the Kerry Hill sheep showing calendar. This year, Jim Rowe of the Downwood Flock, Herefordshire, had the esteemed role of selecting the champions from a large entry of 86 sheep. The breed classes were notably well-attended, with 23 exhibitors making the journey from as far as Scotland and Southern England to showcase their stock.

The prestigious title of Overall and Female Champion was awarded to a Pentrenant-bred shearling ewe from Hannah Owen’s Woodhouse Flock.

Ellie Amphlett’s Woodhouse Farm flock secured the Reserve Champion with a homebred ewe lamb that also took the Reserve Female Champion title. The Male Champion honor went to a shearling ram from John & Phillipa Owen’s Woodhouse 2 flock, with their second prize shearling ram earning the Reserve Male Champion spot.

In the group competition, A Burgess’s Tops Spot flock triumphed as Champion, while G Myset Davies’s Crugiau flock took the Reserve position. The event was complemented by a Society Social on Monday evening, which was well-attended and enjoyed by all. The highly competitive Kerry Young Handlers competition saw Amelia John from the Old School flock as Champion. President Sion Jones presented Amelia with a winner’s sash and cap, acknowledging her excellent showmanship skills. Congratulations to all nine young handlers who participated.
