Multiple records broken at this years Carlisle Sale
J&P Owens once again dominated the sale, achieving a new centre record price of 4000gns for a yearling ram. Their entry, Woodhouse 2 Diplomat, was also crowned overall show champion. Bred from a homebred ewe and sired by Dalwyne Zeus, this outstanding ram will be joining the Bankhead flock of JC Hewitt in Penrith, Cumbria.

The second-highest price of the day went to RJ Stott of Lockerbie with his ram lamb, Hilltop Evan. This was a new breed record set for the highest priced ram lamb. This promising lamb, sired by Birsca Black Magic out of a Grassknop ewe, fetched 3000gns and was purchased by J. Graham for the Birsca flock at Lockerbie.

A noteworthy entry was a three year old tup, Woodhouse 2 Bonkers, from A. Burgess, which sold for 1500gns to L Stewarts for her Balbrae Flock in Glasgow, further underscoring the appeal of this established bloodline.
In the ewe lamb category, RF & DJ Price’s from the Penetrant Flock entry sold for 1200gns, finding its way to J&P Owens’ Woodhouse 2 flock. The lamb was sired by a Homeland ram and out of a homebred ewe.

J. Graham also secured a strong price of 1000gns for a yearling ewe by Whitcastles Angus out of Birsca Amy, which was bought by W. Johnston of Consett. Close behind, a Whitcastles yearling ewe from Mrs. L.J. Steen of Moffat fetched 900gns. This ewe was sired by a Leinthall ram out of a homebred dam.
