Nidderdale flock climbs to the peak at Melton Mowbray

The Kerry Hill section formed part of the 22nd annual Traditional and Native Breeds Show and Sale, held at Melton Mowbray Market across Friday, September 12, and Saturday, September 13.
Topping the trade was a shearling ram, Nidderdale 44958, from Andrew Fisher’s Nidderdale flock. Born February 2024, the ram is by a Lowlands sire and out of a homebred Nidderdale ewe, and went on to sell for 300gns to P&D Simpson, Lincoln.
Leading the female section was a shearling ewe, Natan 29809, from JC Bostock & Son’s Natan flock. Sired by Natan 42206 and out of a homebred ewe, she sold for 290gns and was purchased by Neil Baskett, Church Farm, Wiston.
Top price among the ewe lambs also came from the Nidderdale flock, with Nidderdale 32454 making 210gns. By Pentrenant Cymru and out of a Lowlands ewe, this February-born lamb, which stood reserve champion in the pre-sale show, judged by Ms R Willan, and was sold to D&K Whybrow, Lower Wilbury Farm, Hertfordshire.
