Full Send goes all the way at 4,000gns at Lanark
The pre-sale champion from Ellie Owens led the Kerry Hill Flock Book Society’s second annual Lanark sale
Kerry Hill trade reached 4,000gns at Lanark for the pre-sale champion, Woodhouse Farm Full Send, from Ellie Owens, Shobdon, Herefordshire.
It came as the Society returned to Lanark for its second annual show and sale, following the success of the inaugural fixture last year.
Trade was strongest for the best sheep, with buyers competing for the leading lots, while demand proved more selective further down the catalogue.
Full Send had earlier been tapped out Overall Champion by pre-sale judge Robert Price.
The shearling ram, which was Male Champion at this year’s Royal Welsh Show, is by the breed-record 12,000gns Woodhouse Farm El Fabiolo and out of a Leinthall ewe. It is also a full brother to Woodhouse Farm Fendi, Ellie’s breed champion at the Royal Highland, Great Yorkshire and Royal Welsh shows this summer.
Full Send was knocked down at 4,000gns to T R Evans, of the Calcot flock, Llandrinio, Powys.
Next at 2,800gns was Drumheldric Fandango from E M Duncan, of the Drumheldric flock, Milton of Campsie, East Dunbartonshire.
The shearling ram is by a Penygelly ram and out of a Dalwyne ewe by How End Basher. It sold to the Stewart family, of the Balbrae flock, Lennoxtown.
At 2,200gns was Woodhouse 2 Firestorm from J and P Owens, of the Woodhouse 2 flock, Shobdon, Herefordshire.
By Woodhouse 2 Diamond, a Dalwyne Avicii son, and out of a Woodhouse 2 ewe, it sold to Anna Smith, of the Wester flock, West Calder.
Also breaking the 2,000gns mark was Hassockrigg Fatboy Slim from Sophie McCarlie, of the Hassockrigg flock, Shotts, North Lanarkshire, which sold for 2,100gns.
The shearling ram is by Birsca Caspian and out of a homebred ewe. It was knocked down to J P Swainson and Sons, of the How End flock, Thursby, Cumbria.
Females to 2,000gns
Female trade was led at 2,000gns by Top Spot Glamour Puss from A M Burgess, of the Top Spot flock, New Abbey, Dumfries.
The ewe lamb had stood first in its class and Reserve Female Champion before the sale. By Pentrenant Choir Boy and out of Top Spot Ewe Dancer, a Woodhouse 2 Bonkers daughter, it sold to G Meakins, Whitemill, Carmarthenshire.
At 1,600gns was the Female Champion and Reserve Overall Champion, Hassockrigg Fast n Furious, again from Sophie McCarlie.
The shearling ewe is by Pentrenant and out of a Leinthall ewe by Parkgate. With the Overall Champion coming from an English flock, Fast n Furious also took the Crochmaid Polaris Perpetual Quaich for the highest-placed home-bred Kerry Hill from a Scottish flock.
It was knocked down to Josh Farrell, of the Yester flock, East Lothian.
Aged ram to 1,700gns
The aged ram trade was led at 1,700gns by Hilltop Evan from J Graham, of the Birsca flock, Corrie, Dumfriesshire.
Bred by R J Stott, it is by Birsca Black Magic and out of a Grassknop ewe. Having been purchased at Carlisle in 2024 for 3,000gns, it had been used successfully for two seasons.
It stood Reserve Male Champion before selling to Geraint and Alys Roberts, Denbigh, North Wales, for their Pengwern flock.
Averages: 1 aged ram, £1,785; 17 shearling rams, £1,207.50; 4 ram lambs, £572.25; 3 aged ewes, £350; 21 gimmers, £625; 17 ewe lambs, £602.82.
