Woodhouse Farm Fendi completes championship hat-trick at Royal Welsh

Woodhouse Farm Fendi completed a remarkable hat-trick of Royal Show championships after claiming the Kerry Hill title at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

Judging the Kerry Hill classes was William Evans, who found his Overall Champion in the home-bred shearling ewe from Ellie Owens, of the Woodhouse flock, Leominster.

By the 12,000gns breed record holder Woodhouse Farm El Fabiolo, Woodhouse Farm Fendi first won the Shearling Ewe class before securing the Female Championship and Overall Championship. The latest success completed a memorable treble for the stylish ewe, which has also claimed breed championships at this year’s Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire Shows.

Speaking after judging, Mrs Owens said: “I’m over the moon. I don’t think it has quite sunk in yet. Today has put the icing on the cake.”

She added: “She is entered for the Kerry Hill National Show at Burwarton, but we will see how she recovers from this.”

Standing Reserve Overall Champion was Gunhild Myrset Davies with the first prize aged ewe, Crugiau Delilah. Born in February 2023, the ewe is by Crugiau Brynach and out of a Fronarth-bred ewe, and earlier secured the Reserve Female Championship.

The Male Championship went to Ellie Owens with her first prize shearling ram, while William Awan’s ram lamb stood Reserve Male Champion.

Group of Three honours went to Steven John, ahead of Jim Rowe and Tom Webb in reserve, rounding off another well-supported Royal Welsh Show for the Kerry Hill breed.
