Glenview champion leads Kerry Hill trade at £1,400 in Omagh
The Overall Champion from J. and N. Colhoun topped the Northern Ireland Society sale, with males selling to £500
Kerry Hill females sold to £1,400 at the breed’s sixth annual Northern Ireland Society sale at Omagh.
The sale, held on behalf of the Kerry Hill Flock Book Society with support from the Northern Ireland Kerryhill Sheep Group, saw the top call go to the pre-sale Overall Champion from J. and N. Colhoun, of the Glenview flock, Mountjoy West, Co. Tyrone.
Glenview Fae, a shearling ewe, had earlier stood first in its class before taking the Female and Overall Championship under judge Nic Pagett.
By Woodhouse 2 Almighty and out of Glenview Tilly, a Woodhouse 2 Abracadabra daughter, it sold for £1,400 to Harry Griffies, Coalburn, Scotland.
Next at £720 was a shearling ewe from Ashley Harkness, of the Cluntyganny flock, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone.
Cluntyganny 32306 is by Innishloughlin Andrew, a Whitcastles Apache son, and out of a Tannybrake ewe by Reidstown. It sold to G. Hempton, Gortin, Co. Tyrone.
Also selling to G. Hempton was the Reserve Overall Champion from Stephen Younge, of the Ballykeel flock, Dromore, Co. Down, at £650.
Ballykeel 33932 is by a Forge ram and out of Valleyview Belinda, by a Whitcastles ram.
Ewe lambs reached £550 for Innishloughlin Gillian from G. and O. Latimer, of the Innishloughlin flock, Ballinamallard, Co. Fermanagh. By a Valleyview ram and out of a Forge ewe, it sold to Nial Colhoun, Mountjoy West, Co. Tyrone.
Male trade
Male trade peaked at £500 for the first-prize ram lamb and Reserve Male Champion, Innishloughlin Gary, again from the Latimers.
By a Valleyview ram and out of Innishloughlin Daisy, a Whitcastles Apache daughter, it sold to David Kerr, Kirkubbin, Co. Down.
The Male Champion, Cluntyganny Freddy from Mr Harkness, which is by Innishloughlin Andrew and out of a Cluntyganny ewe, sold at £400 to Paul O’Neill, Strabane, Co. Tyrone.
Averages: 2 aged ewes, £200; 34 shearling ewes, £390; 17 ewe lambs, £307; 4 shearling rams, £325; 2 ram lambs, £195.
